How much do surf lessons cost at Kata Beach?
SSS Phuket's surf lessons at Kata Beach start from ฿1,000 for a private 1-hour lesson, or ฿1,500 for 1.5 hours — with a private, 1-on-1 instructor, board, rashguard, and photos/videos included on every package. Multi-lesson bundles bring the per-lesson price down further.
Do I need any surfing experience?
No — most students at SSS Phuket are complete beginners. Kata Beach's gentle, sandy-bottom waves and a private instructor make it a good place to catch your first wave in your first lesson.
Is the instructor private, or shared with other students?
Private, on every package — even the entry-level 1-hour lesson. You get 1-on-1 attention from your instructor, not a shared group class.
What's included in the price?
Your surfboard, rashguard, and a private instructor are included in every lesson, along with photos and videos of your session. You can also keep using a board for free after your lesson ends.
What's the minimum age for a surf lesson?
5 years old. Kids get the same private, 1-on-1 instruction as adults.
When is surf season at Kata Beach?
May to November, driven by the Indian Ocean swell during Thailand's green season. Outside these months the beach is generally too flat to surf.
How do I know if conditions will be good before I book?
Check our live cam and Windguru tide/swell forecast for Kata Beach before you come — our instructors use the same feed to time lessons for the best conditions that day.
What should I bring?
Just swimwear and sun protection — we provide the board and rashguard. Reef-safe sunscreen is recommended.
Can I do more than one lesson, or a multi-day camp?
Yes — lesson prices drop with each additional session, and if you want a full immersion, our Surf Camp runs from 2 to 10 days with lessons, accommodation, and video debriefing included.
