WHO THIS IS FOR

Training, Not a Course

This page is for freedivers who are already certified and want dedicated pool or open water time to maintain and improve their skills — not to earn a new certification.

✅ This is for you if...

  • You hold a freediving certification from AIDA, SSI, PADI, Molchanovs, or another recognized agency
  • You want to improve your static (STA) or dynamic (DYN/DNF) numbers in a pool
  • You want supervised depth practice (FIM, CWT, CNF) in open water
  • You're preparing for a competition, a personal best attempt, or your next certification level
  • You just want regular, coached practice to stay sharp between courses

🎓 Not certified yet?

If you've never taken a freediving course before, start with a certification instead — you'll learn the safety systems, equalization, and technique that make training sessions safe and effective.

  3. Static/Dynamic Sets (90 min): Supervised attempts with safety diver on every breath-hold
  4. Debrief (15 min): Review numbers, feedback, and plan for your next session

  • Constant Weight (CWT): Finning technique, streamlining, and pacing on descent and ascent

GLOSSARY

Freediving Disciplines Explained

Quick reference for the terms used throughout this page and in your certification course.

Pool STA

Static Apnea

Holding your breath face-down, motionless, in shallow water for as long as possible. Measured in minutes and seconds.

Pool DYN

Dynamic Apnea (With Fins)

Swimming the farthest horizontal distance underwater on one breath, using fins or a monofin. Measured in meters.

Pool DNF

Dynamic Apnea (No Fins)

Same as DYN, but swimming with just your body — no fins. Relies on pull-and-glide technique.

Open Water FIM

Free Immersion

Pulling yourself down and up a vertical line by hand, without fins. Often the first depth discipline learned.

Open Water CWT

Constant Weight

Descending and ascending a line using fins for propulsion, without pulling on the line. The most common depth discipline.

Open Water CNF

Constant Weight No Fins

The purest and most technical depth discipline — descending and ascending using only frog kick and pull-glide, no fins.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be certified to join a training session?

Yes. Pool and open water training sessions are for freedivers who already hold a certification from AIDA, SSI, PADI, Molchanovs, or another recognized agency. If you've never freedived before, start with a certification course instead.

Which certification agencies do you accept?

All of them. We train freedivers certified with AIDA, SSI, PADI, and Molchanovs — you don't need to have been certified through SSS Phuket, or through the same agency our instructors teach for.

What's the difference between training and a course?

A course teaches you new skills and ends with a certification. Training sessions have no curriculum or certification — they're dedicated coaching time to improve your existing skills, whether that's static/dynamic apnea in the pool or depth on the line in open water.

Can I book both pool and open water training in the same trip?

Yes, many freedivers do both — a pool session to sharpen technique before pushing depth on a Racha Yai open water day. Contact us and we'll help you plan a schedule that fits your trip.

How many people are in a session?

Sessions are 1-on-1 or small group, so coaching stays focused on your specific goals rather than a fixed course curriculum.

What if the weather affects an open water training day?

The Andaman Sea is trainable year-round, though visibility and conditions are best November to April. If weather makes a session unsafe, we'll reschedule at no extra cost.

Is equipment included?

Yes — full freediving equipment rental (mask, fins, wetsuit, weight belt, lanyard) is included in both the pool and open water training price. Bring your own gear if you prefer.

Can training help me prepare for a competition or personal best attempt?

Yes — many freedivers use our training sessions specifically to prepare for competitions or PB attempts, with coaching focused on the discipline and depth or time target they're working toward.
